The success of the OCTIEF Consulting Group began when Queensland Laboratory, NSW Laboratory, MBR Environmental, Built Environment Assessors, National Capital Laboratory, and the Australian Carbon Institute merged into a National entity. The merger was agreed upon as the individual capacity of each company had rapidly grown to encompass all states and territories within Australia, and also a number of International regions such as South Korea and New Zealand.

As such, the newly formed management team was given the task of developing a strategy to group the corporate entities together under one umbrella, but in a way that allowed the new entity to retain the local service approach that each individual company was so well known for providing. Having such a vast array of services to incorporate, and such a wide spatial area to cover, this was no easy task… After much deliberation, OCTIEF was the name given to the holding company.
